Rebrewed Cafe X PRSSA Campaign

Rebrewed Cafe is a coffee shop founded by Gretchen Shuler, a now senior student at DePaul University who found love with coffee at a young age, despite not being able to drink it. Shuler became a barista at 15 years old, and has been coffee driven ever since.

Shuler is a student entrepreneur who has created a coffee business that is woman-owned and eco friendly. Her initiatives are to employ foster youth and provide career opportunities for them, in a healthy and lively environment. Rebrewed is a fair-trade and sustainably sourced coffee shop, with every stage of their process ensuring ethical sustainability. They serve high-quality cafe beverages, and besides making great coffee, Shuler's main initiative is to also provide a high quality working environment.

They serve cold brew, lattes, iced lattes, and Gretchen offers a singular mocktail drink as well, which is called the hibiscus highball mocktail. The coffee is alma sourced which is organic, freshly roasted specialty coffee and cascara from farms and neighboring farms in Copan, Honduras that is veteran and women owned. Rebrewed Cafe is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM- 11:30 AM at the pop-up location in Coleman Entrepreneurship Center, Suite 7900. Check it out when you can!

As team lead for the writing team on the Rebrewed Cafe Campaign, taken on by DePaul’s PRSSA, it has been a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience from start to finish. My experience working with Gretchen has been one that is knowledgeable and inspiring, in so many ways. She works to make everyone feel included and is the definition of open and responsive to those around her. She is very acknowledging of not only the team around her but of her own company and what it stands for, at every given moment. I’ve learned so much about the business of coffee and the true reality of running a company from Gretchen. The coffee is truly one of a kind and the company is built upon values I feel will carry it through for a long time.

Rebrewed Cafe is currently holding a Kickstarter launch party. It will be a night of celebration with drinks, music, food, and so much coffee, you may not even need a cup in the morning. It’s a chance to talk coffee with other coffee lovers, meet Gretchen, the woman behind the coffee cart, and hear all about the exciting plans she has for Rebrewed Cafe. This launch party takes place on Thursday November 7th, from 5-7 p.m!

The Kickstarter Launch Party is free and you can reserve a spot for the event through her website! She’s also currently having a Kickstarter campaign which is accepting donations from November 7th- December 7th. There are reward tiers that range towards every budget, and the purpose of this campaign is to help fund their next milestone! Shuler is also having a mobile coffee cart kickstarter launch whose mobility will allow them to come directly to their Chicago-land customers, while offering a full coffee shop experience. It will allow them to mitigate many startup costs, and this will be her first coffee cart opening!

Shuler truly can’t wait to tell everyone more on November 7th! All come, all served.

At Rebrewed, every cup is brewed with a purpose, which gives their mission a purpose. Sustainability and fair trade sourcing is not only a mission for Shuler but an effort she’s committed to putting in for the whole run of Rebrewed Cafe and its business.
